Outposts

Overview

Outposts are player-established permanent bases that serve as safe havens, manufacturing hubs, and logistics centers. When an area is settled as an Outpost, it becomes a permament location. Ownership is securely assigned to the founding player. Successfully establishing your first Outpost also awards a unique progression achievement.

Locations / Availability

Players manage and interact with their established bases using specific terminal apparatuses and integrated interface screens:

  • Base Terminal: Interacting with an installed physical Base Terminal item inside the zone initializes connection to management systems.
  • Base Manager Screen: This dedicated interface handles administrative functions, allowing authorized members to review rosters, adjust global permission variables, and modify aesthetic data.

Core Methods / Mechanics

Interaction with an Outpost centers on access security, tiered administrative privileges, roster administration, and territory customization.

Access Management

The Outpost security gatekeeper can toggle the public presentation and entry rules of the base location through the administration panel:

  • Restricted Access: The site coordinates are obscured, permitting entry only to explicitly registered roster members or authorized allied faction forces.
  • Public Access: The boundary is left entirely open, allowing any wandering player on the world map to enter the zone coordinates freely.

Member Ranks & Permissions

Roster records utilize an internal hierarchy that separates baseline entry clearance from management oversight:

Rank Level Title Core Permissions
Rank 2 Owner Full systemic control, including editing names, modifying base map indicators, scaling individual ranks, shifting security permissions, and execution of total base decommissioning. Immune to demotion or eviction by other players.
Rank 1 Manager Authorized to extend base invitations, evict base members (excluding the Owner), modify the location's identifying label, and select map marker color variants.
Rank 0 Member Baseline clearance granting basic entry permission through secure parameters and the option to voluntarily drop off the active roster.

Roster Management & Queuing

  • Inviting Members: Managers can formally add players to the security registry by utilizing their exact player name. If the target individual is currently active in the world, the base coordinates are instantly revealed to them.
  • Offline Invitation: If an invited or evicted player is offline when an action is executed, the update to their known maps will be fully synchronized the exact moment they next log into the world.
  • Faction Network Linking: Roster members holding the rank of Faction Officer or higher can bind the Outpost directly to their collective faction grid. This moves the location into a shared pool of faction outposts, automatically extending entry clearance to all active faction comrades.

Behavioral Modifiers / Traits / Sub-systems

Customization Protocols

Authorized management personnel can fine-tune how their base represents itself on the global world map:

  • Custom Labels: The default name can be completely overwritten with custom, player-defined titles.
  • Map Markers: Map display colors can be shifted dynamically, allowing players to establish custom visual color-coding systems for various localized holdouts across the wasteland.

Infrastructure Tracking & Tech Upgrades

You can improve your crafting capabilities within the outpost by building certain upgrades:

  • General Workbench: Flags standard, entry-level production capabilities.
  • Gunsmith Workbench: Registers localized arms manufacturing facilities.
  • Chemical Workbench: Confirms pharmaceutical and compound synthesizing apparatuses.
  • Ammo Workbench: Activates advanced ammunition press and munitions assembly capabilities.
  • Garage: Tracks specialized vehicular bays and heavy machinery infrastructure.
  • Crafting Tier Upgrades (Tiers 1–3): Registers sequential technological expansion frameworks required for high-tier blueprint execution.

Global Map Crafting Radius

Unlike standard public production areas where players must remain right next to specific machinery, an established Outpost extends an active manufacturing aura over the entire map zone. Once any workbench or technological upgrade structure is placed anywhere within the Outpost boundaries, its functional capabilities can be fully accessed from any spot on the map, offering total layout flexibility and unrestricted crafting mobility.

Edge Cases, Failures, & Rules

⚠️ CRITICAL HAZARD WARNINGS

  • Vehicle Blockade: An Outpost cannot be decommissioned or deleted if any active vehicle is parked within any of its map layers. All functional cars must be completely driven out of the zone before a deletion sequence can complete. * Trespassing Enforcement: Any player attempting to enter the boundaries of a secure, restricted Outpost without valid membership or shared faction status will be immediately rejected at the border and notified of their unauthorized status. * Total Structural Purge: Executing a base deletion entirely wipes the location coordinates from the global server database, strips map data from all associated players, and completely obliterates all modular player buildings and stored gear inside. This process is instantaneous and absolutely permanent.
