Auction House

Overview

The Auction House is a global, bank-linked commerce system that allows players to securely list items for sale and purchase equipment from other players across the wasteland. Transactions are processed directly through local financial networks, removing the need for direct player-to-player meeting.

Locations & Availability

  • Safe Location Banks: Players can access auction from Bank teller or terminal in cities.
  • Trading Post: Players can build trading stations in outpost to access Auction from bases.

Core Mechanics

Trading relies on a unified financial pool. When executing a transaction, the system automatically checks the player's physical inventory for Bottlecaps first. If physical funds are insufficient, it seamlessly draws the remaining balance directly from the player's Bank Account.

Transaction Matrix

Action Requirements Financial Rules
List an Item Valid item type; item must not be base currency (Bottlecaps). Costs a non-refundable 5% listing fee (minimum 100 Bottlecaps). Minimum total listing valuation must be at least 10 Bottlecaps.
Purchase an Item Sufficient combined funds (inventory and bank balance). Buyer pays the listed cost. Seller receives the payout directly into their bank account, minus a 10% exchange fee.

Stackable Items sale

If a player attempts to list a stackable item (such as ammunition or raw resources) that they already have actively listed on the market, the system will not create a secondary post. Instead, it updates the items into the pre-existing listing, increasing the stock quantity and updating the price.

Marketplace Filters & Categories

Items brought to the marketplace are cataloged automatically by type and quality metrics, allowing buyers to narrow searches down using dedicated interface parameters.

Item Classifications

The marketplace accepts and separates listings into the following item categories:

  • My Auctions (Personal listings tracking)
  • Small Guns, Big Guns, Energy Weapons, Close Combat Weapons, Throwing Weapons, and Explosives
  • Armor and Ammunition
  • Keys and Mods
  • Resources, Components, and Utilities
  • Books, Drugs, Implants, and Miscellaneous goods

Equipment Data & Traits

When non-stackable equipment (such as armor or weaponry) is indexed, the system retains and displays its precise mechanical attributes to perspective buyers:

  • Quality Tiers: Listings are automatically flagged under four distinct grades: All Quality, Uncommon, Rare, or Exotic.
  • Weapon: Viewable data includes damage ranges, Action Point costs, maximum range, internal ammunition capacities, and reload speed.
  • Armor: Displays specific damage thresholds and percentage resistances across damage types (Normal, Laser, Fire, Explosion, Plasma, and Electricity), alongside anti-critical and knockback protection values.
  • Gear Modifications: Items that are modded will display it's modification stats.
  • Condition: The degradation state (Deterioration) and total remaining Durability of the asset are visible to prevent buyers from purchasing broken equipment.

Account Deletion

If a player character's account is permanently deleted, an automated sweep occurs. All active listings tied to that character's unique identity are instantly purged from the global vault, and the items are permanently destroyed.
