Deset Water Tower

During your travels you are bound to find some buildings that are more interesting than regular ones. Some of them like Khans Warehouses or Caravan Ruins Encampment are guarded by strong NPCs. Other like Old Hospital are protected by many, many locks but contains no living enemies. The Desert Tower special encounter falls under second category. In other words if you want to feel like Indiana Jones and his fancy Crystal skull adventure, just go on a hike for this encounter.

So what's there? When you spawn in you will notice a water tower of great proportions, unfortunately you can't get close to it since its protected by some kind of doors with impenetrable lock. So lets try the small shacks, the one on the right side is empty, the one on the left side is protected by weak lock. Just keep trying and eventually you'll open them. Done with lock? Lets go inside the manhole. This is some kind of underground. In front of doors you can find some items: Knife, Desert Eagle .44, Assault Rifle and a single stimpaks.

Once you're done with looting items on the ground open up passage leading to small room complex. This place must had been some kind of underground bunker. The bad news: There is no Power Armor here or any tier 4 type of items. The good news? There is plenty of other stuff!

(The loot placed on the ground in entrance is always the same, the items in locker are probably being randomized though. So don't expect that every time you will find there Electronic Lock pick or Power Fist Blueprints for example. Consider this list as an example of typical loot i guess.)

• c4 - Container with: 3x Torn Paper, 1x Junk, 1x Signal Flare, 1x Electronic Lock pick.
• c5 - Container with: 1x Golden Watch, 1x Mentats.
• c6 - Container with: 1x Crowbar, 71x Bottle Caps, 1x Heart Pills, 1x Buffout, 3x Antitoxin, 9x Empty Hypodermic.
• c7 - Container with: 1x Box of Noodles, 3x Small Dusty Box of Some Sort, 1x Oil Can, 3x Junk, 3x Cheezy Poofs.

Trivia

Early during the session when most of regular items were still blocked by Global Tech progression this place was consider much, much more lucky hit than it is now. Having option of looting Assault Rifle when everyone else were using Grease Guns was huge advantage in fights. Now days its just fun special encounter that is not that much exciting compared to Small Village or other "premium" special encounters.
