Mariposa Military Base
Mariposa Military Base
Mariposa Military Base has three possible spawn points: Front, South, and North entrances. The inner Military Base complex itself remains inaccessible for now.
The location consists of two connected maps: a surface area and an underground network. These maps are linked through multiple entrances and pathways, allowing different approaches depending on your playstyle.
The surface is heavily guarded and populated by large groups of Super Mutants and patrol dogs. Mutants use a variety of Big Guns and Energy Weapons, making direct combat dangerous, especially near entrances. The dogs can detect players from a distance and alert nearby mutants, often leading to overwhelming encounters. Inside the fenced area, a Super Mutant Captain commands the forces. Defeating the Captain contributes to achievement Toppling the Titans progress.
The location has a chance to drop dungeon-specific loot, including Navy Armor.
Most containers are locked with high difficulty (Complexity 150). There are also armed mines placed around certain entrances with the same complexity, making careless rushing—especially from the front—a risky approach.
A local event, Slave Rescue, may occur on the surface. During this event, an additional patrol of Super Mutants returns with captured slaves. This increases the danger, but rescuing the slaves provides a significant experience reward.
The underground section was originally used for supply transport and disposal of failed FEV test subjects such as Centaurs and Floaters. It now serves as an alternative route into the base, allowing players to bypass heavily defended surface entrance
Quick Walkthrough
- Surface: Spawn at Front or South and head toward the caverns leading underground.
- Underground: Move toward the middle ladder and prepare for a large mutant group when emerging.
- Surface: Clear the area, loot the tent inside the fenced compound, and exit using the same route.
Walkthrough
Surface
The surface map has three spawn points, but the Front and South spawns generally provide the most practical routes. Your main objective is to reach the fenced compound and access the tent inside, where the best loot is located.
There are multiple ways to approach this. The most direct method is to push through the front entrance, fighting through heavily armed mutants. However, mutants positioned there often carry Rocket Launchers and will keep their distance, making the approach extremely dangerous. Additionally, patrol dogs circle the perimeter and can detect you early, pulling in more enemies.
A safer and more reliable approach is to enter through the cavern system beneath Mariposa. This route allows you to bypass the main entrance entirely and approach the objective with less resistance.
Inside the fenced area, near the central tent, you will encounter Super Mutant Captain McNugget. He is equipped with a Gatling Laser and is significantly more dangerous than regular mutants. Defeating him contributes toward the Toppling the Titans achievement.
Underground
The underground level is populated by small groups of Floaters and Centaurs. These enemies are not particularly strong, and in most cases it is more efficient to avoid them rather than fully clear the area.
There are three ladders that lead back to the surface, each providing a different entry point. The top and bottom ladders are generally safer, allowing you to engage smaller groups of mutants more carefully. The middle ladder offers the fastest route to the objective but is also the riskiest, as it places you directly into the middle of multiple enemy groups.
On the right side of the underground cavern is the entrance to Mariposa Level 2 within the base complex. This area is currently inaccessible.
Using the underground effectively allows you to control your approach, reduce exposure to heavy weapons, and choose your fights more carefully compared to the open surface routes.
