Lockpicking
Doors and containers may be locked and require the Lockpick skill to open. Some locks require the use of electronic lockpicks, especially in high-value loot areas.
To use lockpicks, equip them in one of your hand slots or activate them via a quick hotkey and click the target container or door.
A failed attempt will trigger a lockpicking cooldown.
Each attempt has a 5% chance to break the lockpick.
The chance to successfully pick a lock is displayed when hovering the mouse over the target container or door.
Car Lockpicking
Lockpicking cars you need to use electronical lockpicks.
Successfully lockpicking reveal one of 5 pin codes for car. You will need multiple tries to reveal all the pin codes or alternatively have multiple players lockpicking and sharing the pin codes. Once you have figured out all the 5 pincodes you can use them to use steal car.
Here you can see it took 9 successful attempts to reveal code 73755.
Lockpicking Formula
Chance to lockpick = Base chance + Skill + Utility bonus − Complexity
- Base chance: 50%
- Skill: Character’s Lockpick skill level + bonus from lockpicking tool
- Utility bonus: Bonus granted by Tinkerer perk
- Complexity: Lock difficulty level
- Lockpicking tools reduce complexity based on their Lock Complexity Reduction (%)
- Minimum success chance: 10%
- Maximum success chance: 95%
