Base Manager

The Base Manager is an automated outpost organization system that allows players to deploy a dedicated mechanical helper (Repair Bot) to maintain cleanliness and automate inventory distribution. The system scans the immediate area, collects loose ground items, and systematically distributes them into designated storage units based on user-defined sorting profiles.

2x Energy Transformer Energy Transformer

Locations / Availability

  • Player Bases & Outposts: This system is functional only within verified player-owned base locations.
  • Handy Storage Bay: Operation requires a physical Handy Storage recharging station built on the map, which serves as the robot's spawn point and home destination.
  • Manager Permissions: Only players registered with Manager privileges at the outpost can interact with the control interface, link containers, or alter configuration settings.

Core Methods / Mechanics

The system is controlled via a management interface allowing configuration of the robot's behavior, container links, and operational status.

Management Control Interface

Action Outcome
Start Base Manager Awakens the robot from its recharge bay to begin its automation routine.
Toggle Ground Pickup Toggles whether the robot actively collects loose items found on the floor.
Toggle Main Storage Distribution Dictates whether the robot will empty the Main Storage container to redistribute its contents.
Link Container Links a targeted storage container to a specific item classification.
Set Personality Matrix Alters the response protocols and behavior style of the unit.

Operational Routine

When started, the robot continuously loops through a prioritization hierarchy to manage the base:

  1. Ground Clearance: If ground pickup is enabled, the unit scans the map for loose lootable items, charts a path, and clears the hexes by adding items to its internal inventory.
  2. Main Storage Extraction: If main storage distribution is enabled, the unit travels to the designated Main Storage container, extracts all contained items, and flags the container for redistribution.
  3. Categorized Distribution: The unit filters its current inventory against linked containers, moving to each designated chest to deposit matching item types.
  4. Unsorted Overflow: Any remaining items that do not match a specific category filter are deposited into the designated Main Storage container.
  5. Standby Reclamation: Once all tasks are complete, the unit returns to its home hex at the Handy Storage bay and enters a standby state.

Supported Sorting Categories

Linked containers can be filtered to accept specific item classifications. The system filters items using the following matrix:

  • Main Storage (Default Overflow)
  • Small Guns
  • Big Guns
  • Energy Weapons
  • Close Combat Weapons
  • Throwing Weapons
  • Explosives
  • Armor
  • Ammo
  • Keys
  • Mods
  • Resources
  • Books
  • Components
  • Utility
  • Implants
  • Drugs
  • Misc

Behavioral Modifiers / Traits / Sub-systems

Personality Matrix

The unit can be calibrated with one of four distinct personalities via the control terminal. This setting modifies the vocal feedback protocols displayed above the unit when it performs various tasks (such as starting up, resting, or storing items):

  • Default: Standard factory-issue behavioral settings.
  • Raider: Repurposed wasteland programming with aggressive vocal protocols.
  • Servant: Subservient, formal etiquette programming.
  • Military: Strict, tactical military-grade communication protocols.

Edge Cases, Failures, & Rules

Missing or Destroyed Containers

If a container linked to a sorting category is destroyed, removed, or missing when the robot attempts a deposit or extraction:

  • The unit will broadcast a Container Missing vocal warning.
  • The specific container link is automatically severed and wiped from the system matrix.
  • The unit pauses all actions before adjusting its route to processing the remaining valid containers.

Inventory Emergency Dumps

In case of robot's inventory containing items but no Main Storage container is currently linked to the system, or if the linked Main Storage container is missing, The unit will suffer a storage failure, immediately drop all currently held items onto the floor at its current coordinates, terminate its active automation routing, and return directly to its home station.

Unit Decommissioning & Death

  • If the Mr Handy Recharge bay gets deleted, the unit drops all remaining carried items onto its current hex before being deregistered from the map.
  • If the robot is destroyed, it cannot function until the recharging bay infrastructure is verified or reconstructed.
