Overview
While travelling across the world map, players trigger encounters — procedurally generated maps populated with enemies, resources, and scenery based on the biome of the region. Encounters scale with group size and become more dangerous at night.
How Encounters Are Generated
Triggering
Encounters are triggered by moving across the world map. Each world map zone has a biome that determines what kind of encounter map is created, which enemies appear, and what resources are available. The encounter map is generated with random clutter and resources.
Spawn Position
Players enter an encounter in one of several ways depending on how the encounter was triggered:
- Standard travel — players spawn at a map edges
- Car travel — players spawn in a random open area with the vehicle
- Forced encounters — players may spawn close to the center
Enemies
Mob Generation
Each world map zone has a pool of enemy presets. One preset is randomly selected per encounter, and the number of enemies scales with the player group size:
- Larger groups face more enemies
- Solo players face fewer enemies
A second enemy group has a chance to spawn if there is enough space, creating encounters with two different mob types.
Enemies wait 7 seconds before becoming active, giving players time to orient themselves.
Night Scaling
At night, encounters are 50% larger — the enemy count is multiplied by 1.5. Travelling after dark is significantly more dangerous.
Biomes
Each world map zone belongs to a biome that determines the encounter's character:
The biome controls which resources can appear in each cell, using a weighted random system. Some resources are rarer than others — for example, Herbs and Ore Rocks appear more frequently than Fruit Trees or Graves.
Resource Nodes
encounters may contain resource clusters that can be harvested:
- Ore Rocks (Iron and Mineral deposits)
- Trees (small, medium, and large forests)
- Herbs (Broc Flower, Xander Root)
- Fruit Trees (Mutated Fruit and saplings)
- Scrap Piles, Graves
Resources in encounters are depletable — once harvested, they do not regenerate.
Visibility and Cleanup
Encounters are visible to the triggering player's group and all party members on the world map. Anyone not in the group or party cannot see or enter the encounter.
Once all players leave, the map and everything in it is automatically deleted.
