Overview
Player Gangs are player-created organizations that allow groups of players to band together under a common banner. Gangs are the backbone of territorial control, diplomacy, and large-scale PvP in the wasteland. Members of a gang gain access to a private communication channel, can participate in town control conflicts together, and are visually identified by a gang icon above their character.
How It Works
Creating a Gang
Any player who has reached level 20 and has 100,000 caps can found a new gang. The gang name must be at least 6 characters long and must be unique across the entire server. The founding player automatically becomes the gang's Leader.
Ranks and Structure
Every gang has three ranks:
- Leader — Full control over the gang. Can promote and demote members, transfer leadership, disband the gang, and manage diplomacy.
- Officer — Trusted members who can invite new players, kick regular members, manage diplomacy with other gangs, set the Message of the Day, and spend Influence to boost town support.
- Member — Standard gang membership with access to the gang communication channel and shared outposts.
Managing Members
The Leader can promote any regular member to Officer, or demote an Officer back to Member. The Leader can also transfer leadership to another player, stepping down to Officer in the process.
Officers can invite other players to the gang. The invited player must not already belong to a gang and must be online and not in combat. The invitation appears as a confirmation dialog that the player can accept or decline.
Officers can also kick regular members from the gang. The Leader cannot be kicked — only the Leader can disband or transfer leadership.
Any member can voluntarily leave the gang at any time. If the Leader leaves, leadership automatically passes to the first Officer; if there are no Officers, it passes to the longest-serving member.
Membership Cap
Gangs have a membership cap that grows as the gang progresses. The maximum number of members starts at 10 and can expand to 20, 40, 80, and ultimately 160 members as the gang advances.
Disbanding
The Leader can disband the gang entirely. Disbanding requires typing a confirmation phrase to prevent accidental destruction. When a gang loses all its members (everyone leaves or is kicked), it is automatically dissolved.
Diplomacy
Officers and the Leader can set diplomatic relations with other gangs:
- Ally — The gang is considered friendly. Allied players appear with a distinct highlight color in the game world.
- Neutral — Default state. No special status.
- Enemy — The gang is marked as hostile. Enemy players appear with a red highlight.
Setting an ally or enemy relationship clears any previous diplomatic status with that gang. Allied and enemy statuses are displayed to all gang members through the faction panel.
Influence and Town Support
Gangs earn Influence by participating in town control events and other faction-wide activities. Influence is a shared resource tracked for the entire gang.
Officers can spend Influence to boost support in a town their gang controls. Each boost costs a minimum of 10 Influence (must be a multiple of 10), and each 10 Influence spent shifts town support by 1 step. Higher town support improves conditions in the controlled town.
Communication
All gang members share a private gang chat channel. Messages sent to this channel are visible only to fellow gang members, regardless of where they are in the world.
Message of the Day
Officers and the Leader can set a Message of the Day for the gang. This message is displayed to all members when they open the gang panel and can be used to share announcements, objectives, or important information.
Visual Identification
- Each gang has a custom icon displayed above members' heads in the game world (toggleable via settings).
- Fellow gang members appear with a distinct name color and highlight.
- Allied gang members appear with a different highlight color.
- Enemy gang members appear with a hostile red highlight.
Shared Outposts
Outpost owners who belong to a gang can grant faction-wide access to their outpost, allowing all gang members to enter freely without individual invitations.
