Grave robbing is a safe and reliable early-game activity that can provide useful supplies, equipment, and caps for new characters.
No shovel or other tools are required to loot graves.
Graves can be difficult to spot, especially in desert environments. Use Shift + C to highlight nearby interactable objects and make them easier to find.
Grave hunting pairs well with other Resource Gathering activities, allowing players to gather loot while traveling between locations.
Graves can spawn in both Desert and Mountain biomes.

Recommended Character Build
The most effective grave looters focus on:
- Movement Speed – Cover more ground and find more graves. Use Perk Marathon Runner,
- Strength – Increase carry capacity for longer gathering runs. Increase your character Strength
- Look Distance – Spot exits, containers, and threats earlier. Increase your character Perception and Perk Far Sight
Alcohol can temporarily increase carry capacity, allowing you to bring back more loot before returning to base.
Tips
- Use Shift + C frequently to reveal hidden graves.
- Combine grave hunting with resource gathering routes for maximum efficiency.
- Avoid encounters containing hostile NPCs whenever possible, as they may also attract other players.
- If you enter a hostile encounter, use your high Look Distance to locate the safest path to an exit.
- Early-game grave looting is one of the safest ways to obtain equipment, consumables, and crafting materials.
